How do you describe being a FAKER?
Being a FAKER to us means putting the animals and planet before our fashion desires. We choose each fabric with the planet and animals in mind. We also never throw away our scraps in efforts to keep textiles out of the landfill. And we never ship anything with plastic, always using compostable or biodegradable boxes and mailers.
Tell us a little bit about you!
Anastasia Bones is all about pushing the boundaries of our wardrobes while also being cruelty-free. We hope to make people feel good about themselves when they support small businesses. We are woman owned and operated as each piece is made by hand by three sisters and our mom. We also want to make people feel super bad-ass and sexy when they wear our clothes.
Why "Anastasia Bones" and what is the goal of your Brand?
The name "Anastasia Bones" comes from the name of our brand owner's alter ego! Our goal is to bring out the alter ego in everyone who puts on our clothes
Describe "Anastasia Bones" with 5 words.
Woman - Empowerment - Vegan - Sexy - Ethical
Where and how do you made your products?
All of our products are made in Florida. Bones (Brand owner) is in Miami and makes some of the accessories and patterns. Ally (Sister) and Mom live in Fernandina Beach and Elizabeth (Sister) is in Longwood. Each piece is made by one of us, by hand in our own houses.
What was your biggest challenge with "Anastasia Bones" ?
Finding companies that ethically source the fabrics we use was and is definitely really tough. It is so hard to find the fabrics we like that are made here in the USA. We hit the jackpot with Spiritex which is a company in North Carolina that grows their own cotton and makes their own textiles and are organic! We also have had success with Natures Fabrics which is a family run company in Pennsylvania that has a large variety of ethical textiles.
What is the next step of "Anastasia Bones" ?
Kids, Kids, Kids!! We are releasing a small line of girls clothes this AW and we hope to expand to boys maybe next year and also Mens one day!
How do you see the future of the fashion industry?
With so many brands boycotting fur lately, we see progress towards a less cruel future for fashion. It is going to take a lot to get the majority of people to stop supporting fast fashion but we are BELIEVERS and this action must happen! We must not lose hope and we must continue speaking up for the animals and for the planet. Many people are so unaware of what they are supporting when they shop at these stores, and it is our job to educate them.
What advice would you give to our readers for a better world?
We are all about LOVE. We believe that if we all loved a little more, the world would be a much better place!
When it comes to a better fashion world do your research! Look into the brands you are supporting, you will probably be surprised. Buying vegan apparel is a great step, but unfortunately it is not enough. You vote with your dollar. Put your dollar towards brands that are looking to help humans and don't use animal products. Shop small whenever you can and share your favorite small brands on your social media whenever you can! The most important thing is to share with your friends and family the truth behind the fashion industry, the more people know, the more likely they are to make the ethical choice!
